Only Errol Flynn could wear tights and sport a curly hair-do and still be virile.

This entertaining boxsetted three-parter, made up of archive footage and new interviews, transports us back to the 1970s to recall how a generation of charismatic mavericks – Billie Jean King, Arthur Ashe, Bjorn Borg, Martina Navratilova, John McEnroe – revolutionised tennis. Tonight, Annie (Faye Marsay) is shocked when the mental-health issues suffered by Terry (Warren Brown) peak again and daughter Pattie (Hattie Hook) puts herself in serious danger when she attempts to remedy her problems. It’s not the most sophisticated drama on offer, but the period Australian setting and juicy characterisation gives Ten Pound Poms just enough pull. Another English classic, Elgar’s Symphony No2, provides the spellbinding finale, with Wagner’s prelude to Parsifal up first. In the last concert of the series, Vaughan Williams’s The Lark Ascending, featuring soloist Zoë Beyers, is the centrepiece of a magnificent evening with the BBC Philharmonic at Bridgewater Hall in Manchester. As ever, Ant and Dec host with Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli on the panel – and surprises along the way. This underwater wildlife series uses robotic cameras designed to interact with the creatures being filmed. In particular, how her family background and the death by suicide of her older sister Barbara, at the age of 18, propelled Goldin into lifetime of rebellion, edgy art photography and political activism. Poitras’s portrayal of Goldin’s own story is just as affecting.
It was largely through Goldin’s activism that institutions such as the Guggenheim in New York and the Tate and National Portrait Gallery in London were forced, in essence, to acknowledge a link between the Sacklers’ money and the deaths of over half a million opioid addicts in America. Over the course of two hours, director Laura Poitras interweaves the ups and down of the campaign’s first four years with the story of the artist who led it – Nan Goldin, whose work was showcased by many of the major cultural institutions that accepted lavish donations from the Sacklers. Showing under the Arena banner, this exceptionally powerful, Oscar-nominated documentary traces the name-and-shame campaign that set out to hold the Sackler family accountable for their role in the US opioid crisis – through the manufacturing and marketing of the highly addictive drug Ox圜ontin by their company Purdue Pharma.
